A few months before ending service to Miami, JetBlue is beefing up its focus on Fort Lauderdale with new routes, more flights on existing routes, and more premium flights.
The New York-based airline announced plans July 23 to launch four new year-round, nonstop routes at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Atlanta, Georgia; Austin, Texas; Norfolk, Virginia; and Tampa. JetBlue also plans to add an additional daily flight on existing routes from Fort Lauderdale to Las Vegas, Nevada; Los Angeles, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Richmond, Virginia, to meet growing demand.
“Fort Lauderdale has long been a key market for JetBlue, and we’re excited to keep growing with the region,” said Dave Jehn, JetBlue’s vice president, network planning and airline partnerships in a release.
The additional flights to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Phoenix will offer the airline’s Mint business class fare.
The announcement comes after the airline brought back previous flights from FLL to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Guayaquil, Ecuador. In April, JetBlue added a twice-daily, year-round route between La Guardia Airport in New York City and Tampa and a new daily flight between Fort Lauderdale and Guatemala City.
It’s not all expansion, though. In June, JetBlue announced it was pulling out of Miami International Airport (MIA) and canceled a few other underperforming routes elsewhere in the state. The last flights at Miami end Sept. 3, 2025, the airline said.

JetBlue adds Brightline integration
The airline also went all in on South Florida in June when it partnered with Florida’s passenger rail service Brightline by allowing JetBlue passengers to book both a plane and train trip directly on jetblue.com as part of a combined itinerary.
This allows travelers to Florida to hop off a plane and onto a train (or shuttle to a train) heading to one of Brightline’s stations from Orlando down the Sunshine State’s east coast in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura, and Miami.
Changes at other airlines
This year marks changes at several other airlines.
Southwest announced that assigned seating (with a change to fares) starts in January. The company also ended free bags, made its fares available on Expedia, adjusted its loyalty program, launched red-eye flights, and partnered with Icelandair.
In June, Spirit Airlines reworked its ticket lineup to make the choices easier to understand and to emphasize that the budget airline offers high-value options as well. The change came a few months after Spirit updated its loyalty program and started offering extra legroom seating for the “Go Comfy” ticketholders (now called “Premium Economy”).
Also in June, United Airlines started requiring all domestic passengers to be checked in for their flights 45 minutes before departure. Previously, check in for passengers without checked bags closed half an hour before departure.
