A motorcyclist is dead after striking a deer and becoming separated from his bike on Monday in Bethany where he was then hit by a vehicle.
Driving a 2000 Harley-Davidson north on Route 69 just before 9:40 p.m., 37-year-old Philip Labonte of Thomaston hit a deer in the area of Wooding Hill Road, according to Connecticut State Police.
Labonte was then thrown from the bike, which wiped out onto its side, state police said.
A 2009 Subaru Impreza north, operated by a 37-year-old Prospect man, then struck Labonte as he was lying in the road, according to state police. Labonte was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, state police said.
The Subaru driver did not report any injuries.
