A new Door County campground is welcoming fall in a big way with a brand new bluegrass music festival that its owners plan to be an annual event.
The first-ever CAMPGrass Music Festival brings four bluegrass bands, including a local favorite, along with family-friendly activities and what it calls “a celebration of community spirit,” to CAMP Door County campground and RV resort outside Sister Bay for the all-day Oct. 4 event, open to campers as well as the public.
Popular local band Heartland Howlers joins three other bands for the first-ever CAMPGrass bluegrass music festival Oct. 4 at CAMP Door County in Sister Bay,
Providing the music are Sister Bay-based bluegrass band Heartland Howlers, joined by Wisconsin-based touring bands Dig Deep and Rodeo Borealis and Illinois-based Chicago Farmer.
Along with the bands, the festival also offers a tie-dye workshop and pumpkin carving for all ages. Vendors and food trucks will be on hand.
CAMP Door County opened Memorial Day Weekend by owners and brothers Matt and Chris Hockers. It’s a boutique campground in a rustic, wooded setting with 77 sites offering full hook-ups for electricity, sewer, water and Wi-Fi. Among the amenities are the Pine Lodge & Lounge and Pine Provisions store.
A news release from the festival said it “aims to become an annual tradition, showcasing talented regional and national musical artists while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.”
“We are incredibly excited to launch the CAMPGrass Music Festival and bring such a vibrant celebration of music and community to our area,” operations director John McMahon said in the release. “Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience that highlights the rich tradition of live music in Door County while also building new connections and memories for everyone who attends.”
CAMPGrass starts at 9 a.m. at CAMP Door County, 10663 County ZZ, Sister Bay. Admission to CAMPGrass is free to those camping on site, $20 to the public for ages 13 and older.
