Texas Governor Greg Abbott has declared Sunday, July 6, 2025, a statewide Day of Prayer in response to catastrophic flooding across Central Texas and the Hill Country.
The governor’s call for prayer reflects Texans’ deep-rooted faith during times of crisis. Communities in the flood-ravaged areas face significant losses and continued search efforts for missing residents.
“Texans are known for their faith, strength, and resilience,” said Governor Abbott. “Even as floodwaters raged, neighbors rushed in to rescue, comfort, and bring hope.”
Abbott emphasized the spiritual comfort many Texans seek during times of tragedy. “In times of loss, we turn to God for comfort, healing, and strength,” he said.
The governor urged all Texans to unite in prayer: “I urge every Texan to join me in prayer this Sunday — for the lives lost, for those still missing, for the recovery of our communities, and for the safety of those on the front lines.”
Abbott also called on residents to pause for reflection and seek God’s wisdom, peace, and mercy for families affected by the disaster.
