A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder, felonious assault and domestic violence after a June 7 fight that left his stepfather injured and another man dead, Akron police said.
Officers went to a home on Bee Bee Circle in Goodyear Heights around 1 a.m. after dispatchers were told a man had assaulted his mother, and the altercation escalated, with a knife involved, according to a police news release.
When officers arrived, they found two men, ages 44 and 22, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The suspect, Antoine Pixley, had fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Officers administered first aid to the victims until paramedics arrived and they were transported to two local hospitals.
The 22-year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. He was identified as Pixley’s roommate.
Investigators later confirmed that the 44-year-old victim is Pixley’s stepfather.
Officers worked with surrounding agencies and began searching for Pixley’s vehicle.
A “partnering law enforcement agency,” Akron police said, located the vehicle containing a knife in the 3100 block of Gilchrist Road, but Pixley abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
A K9 unit was deployed, and after an extensive search, officers apprehended Pixley a short time later, according to the release.
Pixley, of Madison Avenue, turned 21 on June 6, according to Akron Municipal Court records.
