PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Alaska Airlines posted on their website they “are experiencing issues with our IT systems,” and the FAA status page states the airline requested a nationwide ground stop for all its mainline aircraft on Sunday.
The FAA’s website showed the order affected all destinations served by Alaska Airlines’ mainline fleet.
“At approximately 8 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, Alaska Airlines experienced an IT outage that’s impacting our operations. We requested a temporary, system-wide ground stop for Alaska and Horizon Air flights until the issue is resolved,” the airline said in a statement Sunday evening.
It’s not clear what caused the IT issue or how it will affect flights once the issue is resolved.
Officials with Portland International Airport confirmed the Alaska Air flights are grounded at this time, but did not provide any other comment.
