An Alexandria man whom law enforcement tagged as perhaps “one of the largest narcotics traffickers in Central Louisiana” was arrested by the FBI Thursday while in the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1.
Dequavious Javonte Wagner, 31, had been arrested Tuesday by agents of the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit after an investigation over the past several months, according to a news release from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At the time of Wagner’s arrest, agents seized “a substantial amount of illegal narcotics,” reads the release.
Seized were:
65 pounds of powder cocaine.
96 pounds of methamphetamine.
1.3 pounds of synthetic marijuana.
160 bottles, or 20 gallons, of promethazine, an antihistamine.
A handgun also was recovered, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wagner was booked into jail on four counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, as well as two traffic violations. His bail was set at $1,000,200, and online jail records show he is in federal custody.

A call to the FBI on Thursday afternoon regarding what federal charges Wagner faces wasn’t immediately returned.
The local investigation is continuing, “and additional subjects have been identified as part of a multi-state drug trafficking organization,” reads the release.
It states that more arrests are “probable.”
