Alliance Fire Department doused a blaze Saturday at a storage building at 328 Prospect St. Alliance Professional Firefighters Local 480 said in a Facebook post about the incident that one of the city’s fire crews was already in the area checking on power wires that were sparking, and smelled smoke nearby. The department issued an all-call, which brought off-duty firefighters and assistance from Sebring and Lexington Township fire departments to douse the fire. In the Facebook post, Alliance Fire Lt. Dan Russo was hailed for his efforts on his first incident in which he was the officer in charge of the scene. Russo, who also serves with Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, was promoted in the Alliance department earlier in 2025. Ohio Edison also responded to the scene to control the power issues.
