Amarillo police investigating July 27 shooting after 1 found dead

An 18-year-old was found dead in an Amarillo shooting incident that police continue to investigate.

Amarillo officers were sent to the area of Northwest 2nd and North Adams on a reported shooting at about 4:18 a.m. Sunday, July 27, the Amarillo Police Department said, noting that dispatch had received several calls from people saying shots were being fired in the area.

Police dispatch was also advised there was at least one person who had been shot and was in a vehicle. Officers found Damarian Grear, 18, dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle at the scene.

The police department’s homicide unit was called to the scene.
