Amazon has purchased a newly constructed building on approximately 110 acres at Speedway Industrial Park in Wilson County, a representative of the tech giant confirmed Thursday.
Amazon.com Services paid just over $116 million for the property at 1301 Richard Petty Way, according to Property Assessor documents.
The building Amazon purchased is listed at just over 616,000 square feet, according to property records. The building was constructed in 2023.
Amazon already uses a building at Speedway Industrial Park, which is located off Interstate 840. The company also has another warehouse operation in Lebanon and one in Mt. Juliet. Amazon also has campus operations in Mt. Juliet off Golden Bear Gateway and East Division and at Duke Drive off I-840 and State Route 109.
“Our current intention for this property is to open an operations facility, however, planning is in the early stages and we’ll share more when we can,” Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly said.
Generally, an Amazon operations facility employs a few hundred workers, Kelly said. Amazon had 28,000 employees in Tennessee as of January 2024.
The building was approved for warehouse, distribution, office, and light manufacturing uses, said Christopher Lawless of the Wilson County Planning Department.
Speedway Industrial Park is part of the original Nashville Superspeedway property that has been redeveloped by Panattoni Development Company. Speedway Industrial Park includes Thermo Fisher Scientific, FedEx, Ultimate Linings, GEODIS and other companies.
