Apr. 27—Anchorage police said Sunday that officers were conducting a “suspicious death investigation” at East 13th Avenue and Karluk Street after finding a deceased subject at the scene.
Officers responded to the area around 5:30 a.m. Sunday to check on the welfare of a subject, police said in an online update. They found the person dead and “made observations that warrant a closer look,” police said.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the person’s death remained under investigation, and a crime scene team was processing the scene. Additional details weren’t included in the update.
East 13th was closed between Karluk and Juneau streets, said police, who asked people to avoid the area or follow police instructions if they needed to be in the vicinity.
