As Milwaukeer’s restoration efforts from August’s historic flooding persist, residents continue to grapple with potential health issues from the now-receded floodwaters, from lingering mold to mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes are already most active in summer and early fall and choose to lay eggs in or near water, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
DHS routinely monitors for two kinds of mosquitoes, and these efforts have not observed an increase in either species capable of producing disease since the floods, officials told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Even though DHS hasn’t seen an increase yet, you should still take preventative measures to protect you and your home from the pests.
