ASBURY PARK — A 19-year-old Asbury Park man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another teen in April, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said on Friday.
Jordan I. Glisson faces murder in the first degree, as well as second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim was Ah’kim Esdaile, also 19. Asbury Park Police responded to the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of shots fired about 4:25 p.m. April 8. Once on scene, they discovered Esdaile suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the statement said.
He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he died from the injuries.
The Major Crimes Bureau of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police identified Glisson as the suspect. The U.S. Marshals Service and city police located him on Monday, July 14 and he was taken into custody, according to the statement.
Glisson was taken to the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township where he is being held pending a first appearance in state Superior Court in Freehold.
Assistant Prosecutor Michael Luciano of the Major Crimes Bureau is in charge of the case. It was not known Friday whether Glisson had retained a criminal defense attorney.
