Athens is one of more than 20 cities in Georgia that will host a ‘No Kings Day’ protest Saturday aimed at Donald Trump and his administration.

In Washington, D.C., a military parade is set to honor the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, coinciding with the birthday of President Donald Trump.

Yes, the event is expected to be large and expensive, between $25 to $40 million, according to WTOP News.

“The flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it,” organizers said on the No Kings website. “On June 14th, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.”

According to this, protesters are voicing opposition not just to a military parade in Washington, D.C., but to a broader narrative they claim threatens American democracy.

In Athens, Georgia, demonstrators will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. at College Square under the banner of “No Kings Athens,” a local event tied to the national campaign.
