A 37-year-old Baltimore man was arrested in Ocean City Thursday after being linked to two car break-ins and credit card theft, police say.

Terrell Jones, of Southwest Baltimore’s Oaklee neighborhood, now faces 27 charges, including multiple firearm violations. Jones is being held without bond in the Worcester County Jail, according to a Saturday news release from the Ocean City Police Department.

A woman reported her car had been broken into overnight on the 100 block of Wicomico Street and that her credit card had been used for unauthorized transactions at local businesses Thursday, according to the release.

Ocean City police got a description of the suspect from security camera footage. A Worcester County sheriff’s deputy later recognized Jones from the description, the release says.

The deputy and an Ocean City police officer on bicycle patrol arrested Jones after a brief chase, during which police said he tossed several items along the way. A large bag thrown into a rose bush contained a modified handgun, the release says. Other recovered property was linked to a Wicomico Street car break-in and another break-in on the 400 block of Baltimore Avenue, which had not been reported.

Jones had active warrants for his arrest, including one from Baltimore County and one from Baltimore City for a violation of probation, the release says.

“This case is a great example of teamwork and vigilance,” said Ocean City Police Chief Raymond Austin in the release.

A lawyer was not listed for Jones on the Maryland Judiciary’s website Sunday.

Jones’ next hearing is July 9 in Worcester County District Court.
