RIDGEFIELD PARK — Fireworks will once again light the skies over Overpeck County Park on July Fourth.
Bergen County’s “Star-Spangled Spectacular” will return to the park for the second year to celebrate Independence Day with children’s activities, about two dozen food trucks, and a beer and wine garden, and the evening will end with fireworks above Overpeck Creek.
“Last year’s Star-Spangled Spectacular marked a new tradition for Bergen County, and we’re proud to build on that momentum in 2025,” Jim Tedesco, the county executive, said in a statement. “With the return of fireworks and a world-class performance by the New Jersey Wind Symphony, we invite families from across the county to come together at Overpeck Park as we celebrate our country’s independence and look ahead to America’s 250th birthday in 2026.”

The New Jersey Wind Symphony will return with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” accompanied by live artillery from howitzer cannons.
The celebration will begin at 2:30 p.m. on July Fourth in the Ridgefield Park section of Overpeck County Park on Challenger Road. The New Jersey Wind Symphony, a group of accomplished wind and percussion players founded in 1983 as the Ridgewood Concert Band, will perform at 8 p.m.
“It’s a joy to share this day of patriotic pride through music, and we look forward to uplifting the spirit of our community with another memorable performance,” said Chris Wilhjelm, the symphony’s music director.
Commissioner Chairwoman Mary Amoroso, the liaison to Bergen 250, an initiative of the Bergen County Parks Department to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution in Bergen County, said the event is quickly becoming a local tradition. “From the incredible fireworks over Overpeck Creek to the stirring performance by the New Jersey Wind Symphony, this event reminds us of the power of community and the enduring spirit of America,” she said. “I’m proud to see this celebration included as part of our broader effort to honor Bergen County’s rich history and vibrant future.”
