During the event, educators from Penn State Extension will prepare a delicious charcuterie board, inviting participants to discover a new recipe. The hands-on workshop will cover the basic components of a charcuterie board; tips and recipe ideas to create a healthy charcuterie board for entertaining; ideas for making a charcuterie board a healthful addition to any spread. Children will have the opportunity to learn about Daniel Boone’s exciting childhood in the Oley Valley and participate in various 18th century, hands-on activities such as textile processing, candle dipping, quill pen writing, butter making and more. • Master Gardeners of Berks County annual spring plant sale, Berks County Agricultural Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Bern Township, Friday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine. Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to help with all your plant selections. Customers may even request their own personal shopping assistant to guide their plant choices. A new feature this year is an Ask the Master Gardener table, where Master Gardeners will offer information on soil preparation, planting techniques, vegetable gardening, lawn care, composting and help you solve your gardening problems. The sale will feature annuals, perennials, flowering shrubs, native plants and houseplants. Due to the wide interest in native plants, there is an expanded selection of native plant plugs this year. These plants and others that are pollinator-insect-friendly will help to preserve the threatened honeybee population and support native bees and other pollinating insects. Don’t forget to check out the big tent for hundreds of herb and vegetable seedlings grown from seed by the Master Gardeners. A highlight of the May sale is hanging baskets, perfect for Mother’s Day gifts. These are colorful, high-quality baskets, with multiple varieties of plants in deep pots for long-lasting beauty. • Friends of Robesonia Community Library spring book sale, including baked goods and botanicals, Robesonia Community Library, 75 S. Brooke St., Robesonia, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Gently used books, CDs, DVDs and homemade sweet treats as well as flowering annuals and native perennials for sale. Special bag sale from noon-1 p.m., $5 for a library tote bag that you can fill with book sale items.
