Berlin motorcyclist dies in fatal crash on Route 50

Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place in Worcester County on Aug. 27.

According to a release from the Maryland State Police, at around 10:17 a.m. on Aug. 27, troopers responded to Route 50 at Inlet Isle Lane for a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a motorcycle was traveling westbound on Route 50, attempting to go through the intersection, when it was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which failed to yield the right of way.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Dennis Ellis, 65, of Berlin, was transported by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old male, and the passenger, an 18-year-old female, were reported uninjured in the crash. The driver of the Jeep was issued traffic citations on the scene, and the crash investigation is being led by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
