At least 200 tractor-trailers will light up the Mackinac Bridge and downtown St. Ignace on Saturday, Sept. 13, during the 29th annual Richard Crane Truck Show and Parade of Lights.
The event, which began in 1996, feature two days of food trucks, vendors and live music, according to the St. Ignace website. Downtown streets will close to accommodate the show trucks, sponsors and vendors.
“We anticipate a record number of show trucks this year and will have limited judging categories for that reason. We will be closing more of downtown St. Ignace to accommodate the increased number of show trucks, sponsors, and vendors,” the event Facebook page says.
Live performances downtown start at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Parade of Lights takes place at dusk on Saturday, event organizers say.
When is the Parade of Lights?
The Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show and the Parade of Lights is Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, this year. The schedule is available online.
Can I still register to drive in the Parade of Lights?
Drivers who want to participate in the light parade can register up until noon on Friday, event organizers said on Friday. Truck registration is at the Mackinac County Airport near the staging area.
Is the event free?
The event is free for spectators, the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau said on Friday.
How to check Mackinac Bridge weather conditions
Current bridge conditions can be found on the Mackinac Bridge Authorities website.
As of Friday morning, there are currently no “significant weather conditions to report to motorists planning to cross the Mackinac Bridge,” the report says.
Additionally when traveling in the in the Mackinac Straits area, motorist can listen to 530 AM or 1610 AM for updates.
