Black Expo hosts annual Easter Egg Hunt

Must read

ELKHART — The Elkhart Chapter of Indiana Black Expo is planning its 11th annual Easter Egg Hunt at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Ben Barnes Park, 1318 S. 6th St.

The event, titled “Bigger is Better,” has grown to become one of the more exciting events Indiana Black Expo hosts, according to chapter president Robert Taylor.

This year’s Easter Egg Hunt will be in honor of Peggy Curry Thomas, who passed away unexpectedly last month. Thomas played a key role in organizing the event, and “we want to keep her memory alive in a way we all remembered her,” Taylor said.

With the help from donations and volunteers from the community, organizers hope to surpass the 10,000 eggs stuffed last year with a goal of over 15,000 eggs this year.

As in previous years each child who attends the event will also receive a personal bag of candy filled with 25 to 50 individual pieces of candy.

Early arrival is suggested and children are asked to bring their own baskets to collect the eggs.

Donations are still being collected by calling 574-226-4328.
