Breeze Airways’ nonstop Daytona-Akron service brings more options to local flyers

Must read

If the lines at Daytona Beach International Airport seem a little longer at the security gate, you’re not imagining it.

The airport usually sees a bump in traffic when a new route launches, and it’s more noticeable because the airport is not especially large, according to Joanne Magley, a spokesperson for the Daytona Beach International Airport.

“We see it in certain areas (of the airport), especially when flights are around the same time,” Magley said in a Sept. 4 phone interview with The News-Journal. “I suppose it’s a good problem to have.”

That’s because Breeze Airways recently debuted its new flights between Daytona and Akron, Ohio, and more routes is good news for the airport and the passengers it serves.

Magley said the Daytona airport, along with the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, has run a “robust advertising campaign” in both cities.

Each Breeze route runs twice weekly, the airline said, and introductory fares start at $54 one-way.

Here’s what else you need to know.
