Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office employee Tina Callender to receive award

The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan has chosen Tina Callender for the Frances A. Smith Prosecutor Staff Achievement Award. This honor recognizes Callender’s years of service and contributions to the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office, according to a community announcement.

Callender began her career with the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office in 2001. She has held various positions and currently serves as the Appellate Court Coordinator. A graduate of Kellogg Community College, Callender holds an associate’s degree in applied science. Additionally, she is a veteran of the United States Army.

Callender will receive the prestigious award at a ceremony on Thursday, April 24.

The award is named after Frances A. Smith, who retired from the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office in 2007 after 50 years of service. Smith’s portrait was previously displayed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and has now returned to Calhoun County to be rehung in the prosecutor’s office.

Callender is the first recipient from Calhoun County since the award’s inception, marking a significant achievement for the community.
