Captain Shreve student arrested for allegedly bringing a handgun to school

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has placed a Captain Shreve student in custody after he allegedly brought a gun to school.

According to Caddo Parish School District, a weapon was discovered on campus April 17, after a student reported the concern to a staff member.

The staff member immediately contacted the School Resource Officer (SRO), and an investigation was initiated in collaboration with school administration and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Caddo Parish School District said, “We are grateful for the student who came forward to report the concern and the rapid response by school staff and law enforcement.”

The 15-year-old student was quickly located without incident and taken into custody. According to the sheriff’s office, when located officers discovered the handgun.

The student was arrested and taken to detectives’ office, where his legal guardian was present and read his Miranda rights. The student was transferred to Caddo Juvenile Detention Center, where he has been charged with two offenses: illegal possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

Caddo Parish School District said, “We remain committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff at Captain Shreve and across our district.”
