Thirty dogs, one cat and one turtle greeted and brought joy to residents at a Southfield assisted living home in St. Anne’s Mead’s third annual pet parade on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11.
The pets of all shapes and sizes — some in tutus and pumpkin shirts — were brought by metro Detroit community members, many of whom had family members living at St. Anne Mead.

The pets were blessed by Father Chris Yaw of St. David’s Episcopal Church before they paraded one by one down a long hallway lined with seniors eager to pet the animals. Two dogs in the Southfield Police Department’s K-9 squad also attended the hour-long event.
