CAMPBELLSPORT – Friends of the Kettle Moraine will host a family event, Hike, Dine, Drum, on Sept. 13.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Zillmer Trail area of the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit, W833 County Road SS, Campbellsport, according to a community announcement.

The evening will begin with a hike along the Zillmer Trails, offering participants a choice between a 3-mile Red Loop and a 1.8-mile Green Loop. Both trails provide scenic walks through the woods on wide, accessible paths.

At 5:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy a fall harvest dinner at the Zillmer Shelter. The meal, which includes drinks and dessert, costs $15 per person. Reservations for dinner are required by Sept. 6 and can be made by texting or calling 920-313-1566.

Following the dinner, Ryan Meisel will perform a campfire concert starting at 6:30 p.m. Meisel, known for blending jazz with indigenous music from around the world, will present a unique musical experience that combines live saxophones, Native flutes and electronic wind instruments with prerecorded accompaniment of drums and other percussion instruments.

The concert will also feature a drumming circle, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own drums. Meisel will provide some drums and shakers for those who wish to participate.

The event is designed to be flexible, allowing participants to join in all activities or select those that interest them most. Only dinner reservations are required to ensure adequate food for everyone.

A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission sticker is necessary for parking at the event. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome at the Zillmer Trail area. In case of inclement weather, the dinner and concert will be moved inside the enclosed shelter.

For more about the event, email the Friends of the Kettle Moraine at friendsofthekettlemoraine@gmail.com or call/text 920-313-1566.
