With Earth Day on April 22 and Arbor Day on April 25, central Ohio residents will have multiple chances to make their mark on the environment through family-friendly events and recycling drop-offs.
Check out ways you can celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day in central Ohio.
Earth Day-Upcycling
Where: Sharon Woods, 6911 Cleveland Ave., Columbus
What: Celebrate Earth Day by learning to upcycle, which helps reduce and reuse items. Visitors may make their own reusable shopping bag, play games and meet a local artist who uses recycled items.
Earth Day Extravaganza
Where: Homestead, 4675 Cosgray Road, Hilliard
What: Children and adults can celebrate Earth Day by making crafts during this Metro Parks program, which will be held rain or shine at the Lakeside Pavilion.
Earth Day Tree Planting
Where: Quarry Trails, 2600 Dublin Road, Columbus. Park in the first parking lot, which is to the left.
What: Commemorate Earth Day by planting a tree Quarry Trails Metro Park. All supplies will be provided.

Integrated Building Systems’ Earth Day Electronics Recycling Drive
When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25
Where: Integrated Building Systems, 950 Michigan Ave., Columbus
What: If there are old electronics taking up space and gathering dust in your home, Integrated Building Systems is holding an electronics recycling drive. Items accepted include desktops and laptops, hard drives, Chromebooks, printers and copiers, VCRs and cell phones. Besides electronics, they are also accepting paperwork for secure, professional shredding and small kitchen appliances, toys, clothes, or even some furniture for donation.
Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration
When: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 25
Where: Woodward Park, 5147 Karl Road, Columbus
What: Volunteers will plant native trees and pollinator-promoting plants as well as vegetables in the community garden. Besides planting, volunteers will remove invasive plants, place mulch around a playground and clean up litter and a creek. Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and clothes that can get dirty.
The Dawes Arboretum’s 32nd annual Arbor Day Festival & Spring Plant Sale
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26
Where: The Dawes Arboretum, 7770 Jacksontown Road, Newark
What: Admission is free for all guests. Visitors may participate in family-friendly hands-on activities, including tree climbing, art activities with local artists, wagon tours and a photo opportunity with Ohio State University mascot Brutus Buckeye. The festivities will also include a tree giveaway, spring plant sale and food trucks.
Earth Day Columbus 2025
When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 27
Where: Scioto Audubon Metro Park, 400 W. Whittier Blvd., Columbus
What: The free, family-friendly festival, presented by Green Columbus, offers children’s activities, booths and vendors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Music and food trucks will be on hand during the entire festival.
Earth Day Electronics Recycling Drive
When: Noon to 3 p.m. April 27
Where: Scioto Audubon Metro Park, 400 W Whittier Blvd., Columbus
What: During the Earth Day Columbus festival, Green Columbus is hosting a recycling drive with Columbus MicroSystems. All electronics are accepted. However, kitchen appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, ovens and microwaves, will not be accepted. Televisions will be accepted for a fee. LCD TV monitors are $15, CRT TV 0-20 inches are $25, and CRT TV 21-35 inches are $35.
