WESTERNPORT — No injuries were reported when a child set fire to a pile of combustibles in a Westernport residence Sunday, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The 2 p.m. incident at the Logan Douglas property at 514 Maryland Ave. resulted in minor property damage to the two-story dwelling, the fire marshal’s office said.
The fire was quickly extinguished after a resident discovered the fire in a bedroom of the home where the child was playing with a butane lighter, investigators said.
Potomac Fire Company handled the incident upon alert by the Allegany County 911 emergency center.
