City of Savannah updates cooling center and pool hours to combat high temps

With an Extreme Heat Warning in place for Chatham County through 8 p.m. Monday, July 28, the City of Savannah posted an update on Cooling Centers and pools openings for Sunday, July 27.

Here are the locations and times for options to beat the heat, which is expected to reach well over 100 degrees with an index as potentially high as 118 degrees.

Cooling Center Hours

Cooling centers will be open 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at both Tompkins Regional Center, 2333 Ogeechee Road, and W.W. Law Regional Center, 900 E. Bolton St.

City pool hours

City Pools will also extend hours of operation on Sunday. The following pool locations will be open between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and again from 3 – 6 p.m.

  • Bowles C. Ford, 1900 Stiles Ave.

  • Daffin Park, 1301 E. Victory Drive

  • Tompkins Regional Center, 2333 Ogeechee Road

  • W.W. Law Regional Center, 900 E. Bolton St.

City splashpads

City splashpad hours have also been extended Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations.

  • Hudson Hill, 2227 Hudson St.

  • Hull Park at 55th Street and Atlantic Avenue

  • Crusader Park, 81 Coffee Bluff Villa Road

  • Forrest Hills Park at Skidaway Road and Berkshire Road

  • Avondale Park at Texas Avenue and Ohio Avenue

  • Victory Heights Park at East 42nd Street and Taskin Avenue.

  • Savannah Gardens, 516 Pennsylvania Ave.

  • Forsyth Park,10 Whitaker St.

  • Tatemville, 333 Coleman St.

  • Montgomery Crossroads, 401 W. Montgomery Crossroads

Homeless service providers

Homelessness services will also be provided as follows.

Union Mission, 120 Fahm St., will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come As You Are, 1900 Pennsylvania Ave., will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Salvation Army, 3100 Montgomery St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
