TUPELO – Tupelo police have made an arrest in a late May investigation in which an unoccupied house had been set on fire.
Officers responded to 2007 Wayne Drive in central Tupelo on May 25 in reference to an arson investigation.
The responding officers learned that an unoccupied residence had been intentionally set on fire. A joint investigation by the Tupelo police and fire departments quickly identified a person of interest.
That investigation led to the June 3 arrest of Christopher Dewayne Malone, 45, of Smith Street, Clarksdale, charged with first degree arson.
During Malone’s initial appearance in Tupelo Municipal Court, Judge Harry Sumner ordered him to be held without bond.
