A coastal flood advisory has been issued for southern Westchester County, parts of Rockland and southern Connecticut on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
The National Weather Service says coastal communities near the Sound Shore and along the Hudson River could see some minor flooding from around 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. thanks to high tides.
Through the afternoon Wednesday, up to a foot of floodwaters above ground level are expected in low-lying areas near the waterfront as coastal waters creep up the shore during high tides
A forecast hazard map issued by the National Weather Service Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, has a “minor” risk of coastal flooding for areas along the Sound Shore and Hudson River. Such a threat carries potential for 1 to 2 feet of inundation in shoreline and “vulnerable areas.” According to the NWS, “a few shoreline and vulnerable roadways and adjacent properties will experience shallow flooding. There is a low threat of property damage. There is no direct threat to life.”
Flood-prone areas include low-lying neighborhoods, parking lots, beaches, riverfront areas and major roadways near rivers and streams.
Tides are expected to be highest in Rockland and Westchester around 11 a.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday, according to National Weather Service data.

High temperatures in Lower Hudson Valley dip to 60s Sept. 10
The Lower Hudson Valley could see some scattered showers Wednesday morning before 11 a.m., an NWS forecast reads, but most of the day is expected to be cloudy and chilly, with a high of 67 degrees.
Sunshine and warmer temps return for rest of week
The rest of the week is looking much more sunny and dry, with average temperatures in the mid to high 70s during the day.
Thursday, Sept. 11, could bring the last of summer-like temperatures to the Lower Hudson Valley with a high temperature of 80 degrees. Overnight, skies are looking mostly clear with a low temperature of 57 degrees.
Friday also looks sunny with a high temperature of 76 degrees during the day. Overnight Friday, skies are expected to be partly cloudy with low temperatures near 57 degrees.
