A resource group for African American employees of the Central Ohio Transit Authority will be handing out thousands of pounds of food to needy families on April 16 in North Linden.
The BELIEVE Team will be hosting its first COTA Produce Stand on April 16 starting at 3 p.m. at the COTA Northern Lights Park & Ride at 3583 Cleveland Ave. in North Linden. BELIEVE stands for Black Employees Leading in Inclusion, Excellence, Vision, and Education and is led by COTA employees who are “empowered to help the communities they serve.”
The resource group will be handing out fresh fruits and vegetables for needy families on a first come, first served basis, according to a news release from COTA.
This will be the first of four produce stands that BELIEVE will be hosting, with three other produce stands scheduled for June, August, and October.
BELIEVE, a resource group for Black COTA employees, will be giving away 8,000 pounds of food on April 16 in North Linden.
The produce will be provided by the Mid-Ohio Food Collective and packed and distributed by the BELIEVE Team, according to the release.
The BELIEVE team has distributed food to families across COTA’s service area since 2022, according to the news release. COTA estimates that the group will be distributing more than 8,000 pounds of food to families within a few hours on April 16.
