County OHCE to host plant swap

Must read

For anyone who wants to start digging in their garden this year, the Stephens County Oklahoma Home and Community Education clubs will help provide the first steps this weekend.

The third annual Plant Swap will take place from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in the Heritage Room at the Stephens County Fairgrounds.

For those who attend the plant swap, it is encouraged to bring at least one of the following, pest-free and labeled: a plant, roots, cuttings or seeds.

Dana Womack said this is her first year on the committee and she’s looking forward to learning more about plants, like “when’s the right time to plant, start seeds and general care.”

Womack said anyone can attend and bring plant cuttings, extra seed packets or bulbs to the swap.

“They don’t have to bring anything and can go home with plants, seeds or cuttings,” Womack said.

According to OHCE, the purpose for hosting this event each year is to share what others have an abundance of, as well as bring a love for plants.
