CUMBERLAND — A Georges Creek area couple remained jailed without bond Friday following their arrest on felony assault charges after Midland first responders and Allegany County paramedics responded to an ambulance call at the Midland fire station involving a young child.
THe child was admitted to J.R. Ruby Memoriall Hospital in Morgantown for treatment of severe injuries, according to social media posts.
An on-scene investigation Wednesday led to the arrest of Liam Robert Lafferty and Kayla Lynn Keller, both residents of an apartment at 15701 Lower Georges Creek Road.
Lafferty, 23, and Keller, 25, were charged with child abuse in the first degree involving severe physical injury, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.
Lafferty and Keller remained jailed Friday in the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
Both defendants were arrested following an on-scene investigation.
Police released no further information on the incident.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and the C3I Unit investigated immediatley after first responders were alerted to respond to the ambulance call at the Midland fire station.
