Chad Shackelford made an appearance in Cass County Circuit Court on Monday for his initial hearing on a level 1 felony charge of rape.
If found guilty, the charge carries a maximum sentence of 50 years.
According to court documents, Judge Stephen Kitts II set Shackelford’s final pretrial conference for 1 p.m. July 17 and jury trial to start at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 22.
The 43-year-old has several prior convictions.
In 2004, he pled guilty to a felony charge of burglary. Shackelford was sentenced to 10 years with six suspended, two years of work release, a year of in-home detention and ordered to pay a $636 fine.
While on probation, he was arrested in 2007 for three felony charges of Sexual Misconduct with a minor and one felony charge of Child Molesting.
He pled guilty to the Child Molesting charges and one of the Sexual Misconduct with a Minor charges in 2008. He was sentenced to 20 years with the Department of Correction for that case and ordered to pay a fine of $364.
