May 29—SLAYTON — A court summons was issued May 23 for Logan Brown, 24, of Slayton, regarding two counts of criminal sexual conduct involving minors. The alleged incidents took place from January to September 2021.
According to the law enforcement report, in January of 2022, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a sexual assault that had taken place. The victim identified the older male as Brown and said they’d had a child as a result of the assault.
The victim spoke with deputies, sharing they had known Brown for a number of years as they had worked together previously. They said in 2021, Brown told them he had feelings for them and asked them to spend the night at his place.
They said they went to Brown’s house and intercourse happened. Afterwards, the victim noticed Brown wasn’t wearing a condom during the act and said they were scared they would get pregnant.
In March 2021, the victim discovered they were pregnant and said Brown began to worry he was going to get in trouble. The victim stated they became suicidal and “wanted to die” after learning they were pregnant.
The victim stated they told Brown they were under the age of 16, so he was aware of how young they were. They said they broke up some time during the pregnancy and had Brown’s child in fall of 2021.
In February 2022, during a forensic interview, the victim disclosed they had sex with Brown while they were underage and he was 19 at the time. As a result, the victim had his child. The victim shared during the interview that Brown had told them it was illegal for them to have sex and that he would get in trouble. They stated that Brown’s roommate looked up pregnancy termination options since the victim did not want to get caught.
A few weeks after, officers spoke with Brown, who admitted to having sex with the victim multiple times at his residence. He confirmed the victim got pregnant and had their child.
Brown has a court appearance scheduled for June 2.
