DUPLEX: Creek Road structure destroyed, cause investigated
CROWN POINT — Three people were forced to flee after their duplex was destroyed by fire on Creek Road over the holiday weekend.
Crown Point firefighters were called to a house at 2068 Creek Road owned and occupied by Cindy Sparks Alwell and Jack and Lorrie Rafferty after fire erupted there in late afternoon Thursday.
All occupants got out safely, fire officials said.
The cause is under investigation by the Essex County Fire Investigation Unit.
Volunteers from the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross provided emergency aid to the three occupants after the fire, a release said.
The Red Cross supplied financial assistance, which can be used for necessities such as shelter, food, and clothing to the three adults. Volunteers also offered health services, comfort kits containing personal care items, and blankets.
One resident is eligible for veterans’ services, the Red Cross said.
Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the fire, the release said.
The home’s residents are staying with family and friends while they seek other housing, officials said.
