Cynthia Latcham, president of Anawim Housing, Iowa’s largest permanent supportive housing provider, will step down from her role, according to a news release. Her tentative last day is Sept. 30.
Under her 12-year tenure, Latcham stood firm in Anawim’s mission to create safe, affordable housing for individuals who are chronically homeless and need long-term mental or physical health care. An example is The Monarch Apartments, a project that sought to convert a former hotel into a 40-unit permanent supportive housing apartment, with on-site peer support employees.

“It has been an absolute honor working at Anawim Housing. Anawim Housing plays a transformative role in our community, meeting critical housing services for hundreds of households,” she said in the news release. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and have full confidence in the team’s ability to continue this important work.”
Dan Manning, chair of the organization’s board of directors, said Anawim’s future “remains as bright as its past” because of Latcham’s commitment to its operation, fundraising and mission.
