DeLand man arrested for making Molotov cocktails

Must read

A DeLand man arrested last month for the possession of child porn and other child sex offenses was arrested on Monday for having fire bombs in his home, police said.

Sebastian Tinsley, 21, was charged with two counts of possession of a firebomb. He was in the Volusia County Branch Jail Thursday on $10,000 bail.

Tinsley was also arrested on March 24 for the possession of child porn, traveling to meet a minor after using a computer to lure a child, contributing to the delinquency of a child, lewd and lascivious battery on a child, and transmitting harmful material to a minor. He had been free on $5,000 bail.

According to an arrest report, DeLand police responded to Tinsley’s Marlboro Drive home on Friday after getting reports of a suicidal person.

At the home, police met Tinsley who told them he was going through a difficult time because his mother was in critical condition, according to the report.

When police took Tinsley in custody he told them that his identification and keys were in the house and gave officers consent to enter the home to get the items. That’s when a police officer saw two amber-colored glass bottles, resembling beer bottles, containing liquid with white cloth protruding from the openings, police said.

Police said the bottles looked like Molotov cocktails raising immediate safety concerns.

A search warrant was obtained and the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad entered the home. Members of the bomb squad found several bottles containing flammable liquid. The devices were tested by the bomb squad that determined the bottles contained incendiary material capable of causing an explosion, the arrest report shows.
