The quick actions of Glenn County sheriff’s deputies put the brakes on a diesel fuel theft at a business in Willows.

According to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office, the department’s dispatch center received a report of a possible theft in progress at Gandy and Staley fuel station on Eureka Street in Willows just after midnight on July 26.

Sheriff’s Dep. Sotelo and Sgt. Ramirez reportedly observed a Chevrolet pickup truck matching the description of the alleged theft traveling north on Eureka Street and made a traffic stop on the vehicle for having no visible license plate.

The two officers located two persons inside the pickup, Giosbany Marrero Zamrano, 41, of Las Vegas, and Angel Alvarez Michel, 41, of Los Angeles, who allegedly matched the description of the theft suspects.

The sheriff’s office investigation reportedly identified the suspects as having vandalized a cabinet housing the fuel pump operations in an alleged attempt to steal diesel fuel.

Zambrano and Michel were arrested and booked in the Glenn County Jail on suspicion of felony vehicle registration fraud, vandalism, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of burglary tools, and theft of utility services.

Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office at 530-934-6431.
