A Des Moines man who crashed his truck into a Des Moines Police Department patrol car is facing felony charges.

Just after 10:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 23, a DMPD patrol officer was investigating a trespassing complaint on the 3000 block of Tiffin Avenue, according to a DMPD news release.

While investigating, evidence indicates that 35-year-old Eliseo Pedroza crashed his truck and trailer into the officer’s car before fleeing. The officer was not injured.

On the afternoon of July 25, two officers spotted Pedroza’s truck in the MLK Jr. Park Neighborhood, and Pedroza was arrested and charged with two felonies, assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief in the first degree, as well as an aggravated misdemeanor, driving while barred.

Pedroza is being held in the Polk County Jail, police said.
