A Dickson City woman attacked a friend after he picked her up at another friend’s residence, according to a criminal complaint.
On Aug. 14, Tori Baez, 23, of 864 Main St., called Bryce Phillips to pick her up at another friend’s house because the two were fighting.
When Phillips arrived to pick her up, she asked him to take her to the Days Inn, Dickson City, because she was running from police, according to the complaint.
Phillips told officers everything went well until Baez, who was using cocaine, became aggressive and began demanding money from him.
According to the affidavit:
Baez told Phillips she would beat him up unless he gave her money.
She punched Phillips in the head and neck, as well as kicking him and grabbing his neck.
Baez demanded Phillips take her to a Carbondale residence.
On the way there, Phillips gave Baez $300 and had a friend send her an additional $200 via Venmo.
Baez then got angry and broke her cellphone.
Officers noted Phillips had red marks on his head and neck, as well as a cut on his mouth.
Police searched Phillips’ vehicle and found part of the broken phone and a small amount of marijuana that Phillips said belonged to Baez.
Baez is charged with simple assault and harassment. She remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail. Officers noted there was a warrant out for her arrest at the time of the incident.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 8 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
