Friday may have seemed like a good sign, but the sunny skies aren’t lasting into Easter Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
After some light rainfall Saturday morning, the rest of Saturday “will remain generally dry,” with sunshine expected to burst through the cloud cover this afternoon for “mostly sunny to partly sunny skies,” according to the regional forecast discussion. More widespread showers are expected tomorrow.
“It’s kind of cool and showery today and tomorrow,” Samantha Borth, meteorologist with the NWS Seattle Office told The News Tribune via phone Saturday morning. Temperatures Sunday may be “just a touch cooler” than Saturday, around the upper 50s.
It might be nice to have a raincoat Sunday, she concurred when asked if showers will be heavy enough to bring out the rain gear.
A more detailed forecast for Tacoma predicts a 50% chance of rain after 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday, with skies mostly cloudy, a high around 57 degrees and winds of 6 to 10 mph. Similar conditions are in the forecast for Olympia: mostly cloudy with a high near 58 degrees, winds of 6 to 13 mph and a 60% chance of precipitation.
The weather starts to dry out again next week, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s by mid-week and pushing the upper 60s and 70s by Thursday, according to Borth.
