A 77-year-old man from Redford is dead after losing control of his motorcycle on I-96.

On Aug. 10 at around 9:13 p.m., deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on eastbound I-96, east of Dorr Road in Genoa Township.

According to an Aug. 11 press release, the man was driving a 2012 Can-Am motorcycle when he experienced a possible tire issue. He lost control of the motorcycle and left the road. The motorcycle overturned and crashed into multiple trees.

The driver, who LCSO said was not wearing a helmet, was ejected off the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

While alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, whether speed contributed to the crash is still under investigation, according to LCSO.
