Apr. 15—GRAND FORKS — Dusterhoft Family Stores has been acquired by Circle K and will transition ownership beginning later this month.
“The decision to transfer ownership of Dusterhoft Family Stores to Circle K was not made lightly,” said Scott Dusterhoft, owner of Dusterhoft Family Stores, in a statement. “For nearly 50 years, the Grand Forks community has been at the heart of everything we do. While we are excited for what lies ahead, it’s incredibly important for us to recognize and thank our loyal customers and employees who have supported us over the years.”
The Dusterhofts, who operate two locations, made the announcement on April 14. The Dusterhoft locations at 1970 32nd Ave. S. and 4315 DeMers Ave. will not have service interruptions and will continue to operate. The family has operated stores in Grand Forks since 1977. The ownership transition to Circle K will officially occur on April 22.
“To the Grand Forks community, thank you for allowing us to serve you and become a part of your lives,” Dusterhoft said. “You have truly made our 48 years in business unforgettable.”
Circle K was founded in 1952 in El Paso, Texas. Since 2003, when it was acquired by the Canadian company Alimentation Couche-Tard, it has become a global brand with locations across the world joining the portfolio of Couche-Tard and Ingo stores the company operates. The company had several locations in Grand Forks under both the Circle K and the Holiday Station store brands, which was acquired by the company in 2017.
