Earth Day is a day set aside to show support for environmental protection, and the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970.

This year’s Earth Day theme is “Our Power, Our Planet,” which encourages everyone to take action in promoting renewable energy sources like solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and tidal power.

In Louisiana, there are many ways to celebrate Earth Day 2025, whether you’re appreciating nature on your own or attending an Earth Day event promoting environmental awareness.

Shreveport Green’s “Love the Earth Day 2025” celebration

The Shreveport Green Urban Farm, located at 1034 Sprague St., is hosting a “Love the Earth Day 2025” celebration on Friday, April 11 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. This event will features games with prizes and farm-to-table tastings. Participants will also be able to plant and pot native plants to take home after the event.

Earth Day Baton Rouge 2025

Celebrate Earth Day 2025 in Baton Rouge with a family-friendly event promoting sustainability and environmental awareness. This event will take place on Sunday, April 27, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Rhorer Plaza, located at 200 South River Rd. There will be music, local vendors, educational workshops and interactive activities.

Earth Day Festival in New Orleans

Earth Day Festival presented by Louisiana Bucket Brigade is a free event in New Orleans, located at 600 N Broad Ave. The festival will take place on Saturday, April 19, from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be live music, food and family-friendly games.

This Earth Day, the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium will celebrate from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., April 19.
