MERIDIAN TWP. — An East Lansing man has been criminally charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash on April 1 that seriously injured a pedestrian.
Charles Wayne Suiter, 63, was arraigned June 13 on one count each of failing to stop at the scene of a crash causing serious impairment, tampering with evidence and moving violation causing serious impairment. The first two charges are felonies, while the third is a misdemeanor.
A magistrate set a $1,000 cash bond for Suiter pending further hearings in the case. Court records did not list an attorney for Suiter.

The crash happened about 3:15 p.m. in the area of Grand River Avenue and Campus Hill Drive. The female victim was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Township police were helped at the scene by the township fire department, East Lansing police, Michigan State University police, Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, Lansing police and Michigan State Police.
