Sep. 27—Evelyn Jean Sunderland Evelyn Jean Sunderland, “Sissa,” went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2025. Evelyn was born on April 1, 2013, to her loving parents, Phillip and Ivy Sunderland, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her big brother, Mason, was present to welcome his Sissa into the world. Evelyn was a loving, kind, competitive, cheerful, bold, obedient, and faithful young lady who was determined to succeed at everything she did. She loved to sing, dance, talk, and listen to music. She loved small children and wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. Evelyn’s memory will be forever cherished by Phillip, Ivy, and Mason; her paternal grandparents, George and Loretta Sunderland; maternal grandparents, Jim and Brenda Begley, and Mike and Kristi DuBay; great-grandmothers Maxine DuBay and Mary Barychko; Tia Natalie Passantino (Joey), Aunty Kylee Wells (Matthew), uncles Dylan Begley (Alyssa), Arthur DuBay (Olivia), and Brandon Begley (Monica); cousins Allison, Logan, Travis, Jacob, Chance, Aidan, Zelda, and Creed, as well as many great-aunts, uncles, cousins, her BFF’s, the Rats, and countless precious friends. She was preceded in death by her cousin Mia and many great-grandparents. Her love of God was an anchor in her young life. Her faith inspired her to search the Scriptures and share the manna she received with her family and friends. “Casteth all thy care upon Him; for he careth for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
