Aug. 30—JAMESTOWN — A 48-year-old Fargo man was sentenced recently in Southeast District Court in Jamestown for burglary and theft of property at the Jamestown Country Club.

Jesse Gene White pleaded guilty to theft of property, a Class B felony, and burglary, a Class C felony. In a separate case, White pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sexual offender, Class C felonies, and criminal trespass, a Class A misdemeanor.

White was accused of intending to commit theft and entering one or more buildings at the Jamestown Country Club, taking and/or illegitimately keeping property of the Jamestown Country Club including liquor, cash, coin, currency and/or sports equipment and apparel with an aggregate value of more than $10,000 but less than $50,000 on Jan. 30, being required to register as a sexual offender and failing to register a change in his address within three days with the local law enforcement agency and entering someone else’s garage when he knew he was not licensed or privileged to do so from Jan. 11 to Feb. 27.

Judge James Shockman sentenced White to 24 months in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation with credit for 29 days served. Shockman placed White on 12 months supervised probation and ordered him to pay a $650 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee, $3,800 restitution and a $25 victim-witness fee.

A Class B felony is punishable by 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by 360 days in prison and a $3,000 fine.

The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a burglary and theft of property at the Jamestown Country Club on Jan. 30. Court documents say about $43,000 in golf equipment, $500 in liquor and $1,500 in cash were believed to be stolen.

A search warrant was executed on April 17 at a residence in Fargo where White, a former employee at the Jamestown Country Club, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Court documents say law enforcement found a stolen golf bag with golf clubs from the burglary at the Jamestown Country Club. White was also wearing a pair of shoes with a tread pattern that matched the tread found at the scene of the burglary at the Jamestown Country Club.

Court documents say White later confessed to committing the burglary and taking much of the stolen property to California.
