What is one thing you wish people knew or understood better about your profession?
I wish people knew that this work isn’t a job — it’s purpose. And every breakthrough, no matter how small, is a victory worth fighting for.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received and/or the worst advice you’ve ever followed?
Best Advice I’ve Ever Received:
“You can’t save everyone but you can show up for the one in front of you.”
It taught me to focus on impact, not perfection.
Worst Advice I’ve Ever Followed:
“Keep your head down and don’t rock the boat.”
Staying quiet cost the kids more than it ever protected me.
What goal have you already achieved, and how did you make it happen?
“I created a consistent, safe space where youth feel seen and supported — through the Boys & Girls Club, GBBALLERS, and coaching. I made it happen by showing up daily, building trust, and leading with purpose.”
If you weren’t in your current profession, what would you be?
I’d be running a full-time youth sports academy or training program — still mentoring, just in a different setting. My passion for coaching and building young leaders wouldn’t change.
What are five things (not people or pets) you can’t live without?
A whiteboard to map out ideas and goals
What’s something you do outside of work to enrich yourself?
I study leadership, mental health strategies, and motivational content to grow as a mentor — and I hit the gym to reset mentally
What’s a song that always makes you happy or that motivates you?
“Optimistic” — Sounds of Blackness
