A 39-year-old man who posted threats to social media about killing Palm Beach law enforcement officers in a “blood bath” was arrested, according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
A man who made threats to harm Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies was arrested in Brevard County on Aug. 26.
Gabriel Serrano was charged with written or electronic threat to kill or cause bodily harm to another and resisting an officer without violence after FBI agents contacted the sheriff’s office about the threats posted on Facebook, records show.
In an Aug. 27 post on the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office’s official Facebook page, Ivey said federal investigators learned of the threat on Aug. 26 and tracked the name on the social media account to Serrano. From there, Ivey said, Brevard investigators partnered with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to find Serrano. He was located at a hotel parking lot in Viera, where he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Sheriff Ivey said Serrano appeared to be upset about a possible road rage incident in Brevard on Aug. 24. Sererano left Brevard after that incident and fled Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies after they attempted to stop him, records show.
“They attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but he ultimately fled from them, which led to a warrant being issued for his arrest!!,” Ivey said in the Facebook post.
“Of course this is when Serrano decided to take to Facebook to share his feelings about the recent interaction he had with law enforcement saying, “Will give you a blood bath shoot ur cops randomly today” and “I’m shooting officers left n right.'”
Ivey said Serrano also tagged one Palm Beach deputy in the post.
As of Aug. 28, Serrno was being held at the Brevard County Jail on a $151,000 bond. No court date has been set.
